In May 2007 the Associazione Italiana Sommelier tasting panel took to task 12 Soaves out of seventy selected in a blind tasting to assess the quality of the wines from the 2006 and 2005 vintage.
The panel judged on typicity and ageing capacity and the results show extremely favourable for Marcato’s Soave Classico “Tenuta Barche”, which came on top before the likes of Inama, Ca Rugate, Tamellini and Coffele.

The panel’s tasting note for the 2006 Tenuta Barche reads as follows:
Soft buttery and floral nose, with opulent fruit and notes of ripe apple. A full bodied and smooth sweet fruit palate is balanced by a lively acidity, and the typical note of almond. It is the only 2006 that came first before the other twelve because of its maturity and persistence.
